What changes are Microsoft making to CSP?
Microsoft are changing their CSP programme to the NCE (New Commerce Experience). This change came into effect on 10th January 2022. They have done this to reduce licensing complexity and encourage customers to start committing to longer term licencing contracts. As part of this change, customers will be charged 20% more if they are on a pay monthly licence with no annual commit.
Microsoft are also raising the cost of the following services on 1st March 2022:
- Microsoft Business Basic
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium
- Office 365 E1, E3 and E5
- Microsoft 365 E3
What services are affected by the move to the NCE?
All Microsoft CSP commercial services including Office 365 and Microsoft 365.
What licencing options are available under the new NCE programme?
You have three different options to choose from:
- Pay monthly with flexibility to change licences at the end of your 30-day subscription term but pay 20% more
- Annual contract with monthly or upfront payment and you lock your price in for 1 year
- Tri annual contract with monthly, upfront or annual payment and you lock your price in for 3 years (coming soon, date TBC)
For all annual/tri annual contracts you are committed for the term. You can add more licences but not reduce licences until your renewal date. For all contracts you will have a 72hr window at the end of your subscription to change any licences before it renews.
You can mix and match licence types so if you have teams that you know will need certain licences for the long term, you could use the annual agreement for them. Then use monthly licences with no annual commit for teams where you know the needs will change and you need to keep that flexibility. For example, if you have contractors or temporary/seasonal staff.
NCE is available now and all CSP licence renewals will be put through NCE from 1st July 2022.
With longer contracts it will mean you are locked in with your current provider for at least a year, so this could be the time to review whether you are happy with the service they provide or whether you should move.
How can Navos help?
Did you know Navos are a Microsoft partner that can supply NCE licences, and we can help save you money?
There are some great Microsoft promotions that you can take advantage of to encourage you to move from CSP to NCE sooner:
- If you are on any of the above services affected by the price rise and move them to a different provider like us on NCE by 1stMarch 2022, then you can lock in your current price for a year.
- If you move your CSP licences to an annual NCE agreement by the end of March 2022, you can get 5% off for the next year! Not only this, you can combine this offer with the one above to get even more savings if licences are moved to NCE by 1st March 2022.
- If you want to stay on pay monthly with no annual commit, you can get 20% off your monthly licences until the end of June 2022 when you move them to NCE. The sooner you move, the quicker you can make the saving.
Not only can you save money with the above promotions, but Navos can also help you to cut costs in other ways. Before you move from CSP to NCE we will check all your current Microsoft licences to ensure that you are utilising them to their full potential and only paying for what you need. If you have some licences not being used, or staff on a service that has too many features for what they actually need then we will identify this, saving you even more money. This is particularly useful when committing to the new annual/tri annual contracts.
Plus, if you are already working with us, it makes sense for us to take one more technology challenge off your plate, leaving you to focus on more important business matters.
